February 2010

Dear Pastor and Church,

If the year goes as quickly as these first few weeks, 2010 will be gone before we know it! December went by all too quickly with several different services celebrating the birth of Christ. The children did a wonderful job on the Christmas play. We also appreciate the many cards and special gifts we received over the holidays. They were a great blessing to us.

We just had our annual missions conference with a fellow missionary as a guest speaker plus a presentation by a Hungarian pastor that our church supports in his new work in Nagykinizsa. Our church is also participating in the “buckets of love” offering for the sister churches in Haiti who have lost so much. What a thrill it was to see our people promise to give 419,000 forint ($2180) for missions this year!!

What was supposed to be a three day stay in a hospital in Budapest for me turned into a nine day stay after surgery to remove up to 7 bladder stones! Patty stayed in a nearby guesthouse since we live more than 60 miles from the hospital. We had prepared for a 3 day stay but not the 10 nights at the guesthouse. We have received a 90 day loan through the missions office of $500 to pay for the extra expenses incurred during this time. If your church could help with this and/or the extra expenses involved in the hospital/surgery not covered by insurance, it would be greatly appreciated. Please mark your gift: Medical expenses. Thank you so much for your prayers and financial help.

I am doing much better and return for follow up visits over the next two weeks. Please pray for my complete recovery and strength for the upcoming months. On Feb. 22nd I will fly to the states to do the last module for my Master’s degree in May. Patty will join me in March when we will be in a conference and some other meetings. We will return to Hungary June 1st and look forward to wonderful English and Baseball camps as well as the other ministries during the year. Please pray for Zoltan and Eva as they take care of the church during our absence.

Due to the financial straits facing many, the group who planned to come this summer for our baseball camp will not be able to come. If any church or individuals would like to come to help, it would be a great blessing! The date is July 12-16. Please contact us soon if you would be able to come.

Again, thank you to each of you for your faithful prayers and support. It would be impossible to serve here in Hungary without them!

In Christ,

The Peters
