Dear Pastor and Church,
Juan Carlos came to us a few months ago. He and his wife, Isabelle, have
been a big help and encouragement to us. He was saved in Paraguay with
Baptist missionaries there but he had immigrated to Belgium 18 years
ago. He never really found a church to be a part of and eventually quit
going to church. After being diagnosed with cancer, God led him to us.
Our church family have loved him and his family and they have just fit
right in with us like a glove. Claire and Alexandra, his daughters, have
grown up in Belgium and had never really been in church. They did not
know the Bible stories or even the gospel. They have been coming about 6
months. The last Sunday in March, Jean had the privilege of leading
these two precious girls to Jesus.
Igor and Steve are two of our junior boys. They were saved at camp last
year. Igor’s father came a few weeks ago and said that Igor wanted to be
baptized. I had held both of these young boys in my arms when they were
babies. Here we were years later baptizing them. Igor came out of the
water rejoicing. Steve was a little quieter but he was just as excited.
Steve waited until the curtains closed and then asked me if he could
take the Lord’s Supper.
Several years ago, another missionary, who was working with the refugee
center not far from our building, gave me two Bibles in Farsi. I took
them home and put them on a shelf waiting for a time when I would meet
an Iranian. Years have passed without an Iranian on the horizon. A month
ago my wife found the Bibles in my office and suggested we take them to
church. I put them in a box and set them aside until the first Sunday in
April. Last Sunday morning while looking for something else, I found the
Bibles and put them with all the paraphernalia that goes to church. When
we got to church, Jean laid the Bibles on the stairs and forgot them.
During Sunday school, a lady walked into the service with one of the
Bibles in her hand. She asked if she could please borrow it to read. She
was a first time visitor and while taking the stairs into our services,
she found a Bible in her language. It was a God moment. We do not know
where this is leading but it sure is fun to watch God at work.
Thank you for allowing us to work in Belgium. These precious people are
all fruit to your account.
