Picnics and Barbeques
Reaching the Russian people is tedious work. Gone are the days when we
could put up a sign and literally hundreds of people would come to hear
the Gospel. Today, reaching Russians for Christ is a one on one effort.
In order to help the Russian People cross the cultural and nationality
barrier, we invite them into our home for various celebrations. We
celebrate Russia’s Independence Day and America’s Independence Day. We
celebrate American Thanksgiving and Russian Harvest Celebration. These
celebrations in our home allow the Russian people close contact with our
family to see that we are kind, loving, and fun people who love the
Lord.
We have anywhere from 20 to 100 people at our picnics. Each time a new visitor comes, we hear the same comment over and over again at the end of the day, “Thank you so much for inviting me into your home today. This has been the most fun I have ever had. I never knew people could have a good time without alcohol. I’ve just had the best day of my life and I’ll even be able to remember it in the morning.”
We have a small service at each of our picnics so that no one leaves our home without hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have seen many people saved over the years at our picnics.
