August 2005
We celebrated our tenth anniversary in Greece. We rejoice in the work the
Lord
has done in this country and we want to share the blessings at the
conclusion of this term.
We had a great blessing last
month. On our last service, before we left for medical furlough, my wife led
this little boy to the Lord. Timo, seven year old son of Izzat and Rita,
trusted the Lord Jesus as his Savior and asked to be baptized before we
left. Pray for Timo that he will grow to be a mighty soldier in the Lord’s
army.
Another great blessing was that
Zadik, a Chaldean from Iraq who has been coming to our Bible studies for
over four years, expressed the leading of the Lord to be baptized when we go
back. The Lord has used him to lead a Bible study group of forty Chaldeans
every Saturday in Athens. Pray for this group of people to be saved.
The Lord also blessed us with
Peter, who after much prayer, came forward to take over our work in Athens
during our furlough. They are able to meet twice a week and the Lord has
blessed them with new visitors.
The work in Zakynthos is
going strong with two services, one in Greek and the other in English. This
past month four have been saved and baptized, pray for this work to continue
to see souls saved.
We left Greece with tears of
joy, as over twenty people came to the airport to see us off. They expressed
their love and concern for me as we are coming on a medical furlough. My
eyes have been getting worse and I need to seek specialized treatment that
Greece cannot offer. Please pray that I will find healing and grace from
God.
We reunited with family
in New York, and with our son Poli in Pittsburgh, PA. Poli announced his
engagement and plans to get married to Jane Besze, of Youngstown Baptist
Church, on September 3rd, 2005. To make this a double blessing, James Sinde,
who has completed a one year internship in Greece, proposed to our daughter
Cristina, and announced their plans to get married June 10th 2006. They will
attend BBC this Fall.
Timothy, who is turning
17 will have to wait for his turn. He has, however, already joined the
Soccer team, his true love, and will be a senior in Christian Schools of
Springfield. Please pray for Timothy.
Please keep us in your
prayers this year, as we intend to oversee our children in Springfield and
travel to see the doctors, report to churches, and raise support to go back
to Greece and resume our work with new goals and new commitments. We need to
raise money for the Home Projects Offering that will enable us to purchase a
home, since we had to sell the other one last year. We also need to raise
funds for the Church Projects Offering, that we will be able to purchase a
meeting place without the burden of high rent in Athens and the low dollar
exchange rate.
Laboring together till
Jesus comes,
George and Luisa Dimakos
