Dear Fellow-Servants of Christ:
If you have been following our letters you know that Ruthmary has struggled with debilitating health problems for years, the last seven being progressively difficult. It became impossible for her to receive proper care and medication on the field, resulting in unnecessary suffering for her and shorter terms for us. We repeated the cycle of taking medical furloughs so the doctors could "patch her up", followed by returning to the field to see her health rapidly decline until she was bed ridden. The last term she was in bed seven months and lost 50 lbs. before we got her back to the states.
It is obvious to us that after 14 years serving in Hungary, God is redirecting us. After much prayer, counsel, and advice, we are confident that God has led us to change fields. We will no longer be living and serving exclusively in Hungary, but will be working with MANNA Worldwide, primarily in Europe. This means that- our ministry in Hungary will be expanded to include surrounding countries such as Romania, Ukraine, Bulgaria, and many others.
I have done my best to contact all our supporting churches either personally or by phone to explain how God has led us. We are thankful that virtually all of them are standing with us through this transition. We need to retain all 'our supporting churches since we will not receive any compensation from MANNA. The Missions Office in Springfield is still the clearing house for our support. The only change in our status with the BBFI is that we are BBFI affiliated missionaries, but we are still BBFI Missionaries.
MANNA is a BBFI approved ministry partnering with missionaries to plant churches by using the tools of opening orphanages and feeding centers for children. Our desire is to plant a new church with every feeding center. Winning souls and church planting is still the primary goal of our ministry. The love of God expressed by meeting physical needs opens hearts to the Gospel We have seen many children and their parents come to Christ.
